If you have seen a normal flashlight, then a tactical flashlight is no different; just that it is designed for tactical use, such as by police or military. It is intended to be attached to a weapon for low-light shooting.

Do I recommend this light? NO!
I've finally covered all the lights that this site started with that are what I believe are really low quality and poor choices for tactical lights. Granted they're at a great price point but you are worth more than that, and I think you'll agree once you see what this site has to say about tactical lights and other tactical gear that can help you and your family.
Tired of knockoffs?
So am I. I realize that these reviews may not make me popular with some people. I have no evil intent. I’m just trying to call it like it is. Listen, there are a ton of lights that are sold on price alone. That’s fine if that’s what you want.
But, if you want a tactical flashlight for a legitimate, even critical purpose, like home defense, you need to be informed and look elsewhere.
Where do you look?
Here are three quick options that I highly recommend. I own them and personally use them. Want more information? Check the many reviews and how to articles on TactBright.com.
This is an all around, reasonably priced, tactical light that you can depend on? Here’s the Fenix PD25 rated at 500 lumens and running on one CR123A or 16340 battery. It quality constructed of aircraft-grade aluminum which is hard-anodized, waterproof and has a lifetime warranty. I cover this great light here.
Need more, here’s a light that can be used in home invasion type emergencies. This tactical unit, the Klarus XT2CR is specifically programmed to provide immediate momentary bright light at 1600 lumens, and a disabling strobe – two feature necessary to this type of situation. You can read more about this light here.
Finally, want just a pocket every day carry (EDC) light that is not only bright but also has strobe and lockout so it doesn’t accidentally run down the battery? The Klarus Mi7, which is covered in this article, may just fit your needs. Don’t let its size fool you, it produces 700 lumens and easily fits into your jean key pocket. Truly every day carry.
I really believe it’s sad to have so many poorly constructed tactical lights flood the market. You are not well served by most of these products, but it’s up to you to learn about what’s good and why and then make the right decision to protect you and your family.
